All Confraternity events have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus. We hope to resume our socials in the summer.
First Confraternity Social
On the 28 November 2019 the Confraternity held its first social event at the George Inn, Borough, London. It was an informal gathering over three hours when members could drop in to meet over a drink and share stories.
Given that pilgrimage has, and has always had, an enormous social dimension, the success of the event was perhaps unsurprising. Attendance exceeded our expectations and, despite our having to sit outside on a late November evening, spirits were high.
It was an opportunity for members to share their stories from the road and enjoy the company of like-minded individuals. It seems true that even if two pilgrims have never met and walked the Francigena in a completely different year, they have shared in something of the same experience and will ultimately find a lot to talk about.
Given the success of the first event we shall certainly be planning more in the future, both in London and elsewhere. We hope they will continue to be a valuable space to both seasoned and as-yet-uninitiated pilgrims.
