Route description: The route follows the River Darent all the way to Otford, passing through Darenth, Farningham, Eynesford, past Lullingstone Roman Villa and Castle, through Shoreham on to Otford. As the route follows the river valley, there are few inclines. There are many facilities along the way, with a planned stop for lunch in Farningham where there is a delightful pub garden by the river.

Details: Pilgrims to Rome has been developing the Francigena Britannica extension of the Via Francigena from London to Canterbury for several years. You can learn more about the route on our Britannica page here. This will be the first led walk along a section of the route from Dartford to Otford by Pilgrims to Rome. We are looking for pilgrims to join us as ambassadors, to recreate the spirit of pilgrimage as we make our way through communities, stopping off at churches and other sites along the route.
