2025 Annual Conference

The Pilgrims to Rome Annual conference will take place on 15 March at Amigo Hall at St. George’s Cathedral in Southwark. The theme of this year’s conference is The Many Ways to Rome with guest speakers Cicerone guidebook authors Sandy Brown and Nicole Bukaty and experienced pilgrim Ben Eley.

There has never been just one route to Rome. As the Francigena has developed over the past twenty years, pilgrims have often made their own route, choosing to divert to visit a particular place or adapting the route to their own needs. As the route has become more developed and more pilgrims journey along the Francigena, Pilgrims to Rome has noticed many pilgrims are choosing to extend their pilgrimage, such as starting in London rather than Canterbury, or returning to the route for a different experience. This conference, focused on the theme The Many Ways to Rome, will explore some of the many possibilities to adapt your experience on the Francigena. Guidebook writers Sandy Brown and Nicole Bukaty will speak about their new guidebook on the Francigena of the South and Ben Eley will take us through his detour off the Francigena along the Via Sacra and the battlefields of WWI.
